In 2009, the Peter Fish Group released its first album, Live at 55 Bar. Recorded on location in the heart of the West Village, NYC, this recording showcases the talent that these top-notch musicians brought, and still bring, to the table. With compositions by Mr. Fish, Emmy-award-winning composer, and keyboard player extraordinaire, the band burns through jazz funk not heard anywhere. Although the influences for his writing stem from the fusion era of jazz, the feel to the compositions are obviously not antiquated in any way. If you catch the band at the 55 Bar, where they continue to perform, you’ll understand there were no production tricks in the making of this album. Sitting nearly on top of the band in this cozy bar, you can watch the musicians putting their flavor in like a chef in the kitchen.
